Holy Pumpkins Batman!

Okay, it would have been nice to have the Batmobile to get into the place, but once we were finally parked and out of the car, BLAZE did not disappoint! Thousands and thousands (5,000+) hand-carved Jack-o-lanterns lit up the night on the grounds of the 18th century Van Cortlandt Manor.

Readings on our iPhone ghost app were high but there was nothing scary here, just a charming display suitable for all ages. There was a field of butterflies, a beehive swarming with bees, a menagerie including an elephant and a giraffe, a striking grandfather clock and a gigantic web surrounded by spiders; everything was artfully constructed from pumpkins!
BLAZE is just one of many Halloween activities in the NY's lower Hudson Valley, about an hour north of NYC. In the towns of Croton-on-Hudson, Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow you'll also find graveyard tours, dramatic readings of "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" and Horseman's Hollow, a haunted house that will scare the bejeezus out of you!

IMPORTANT: All activities require tickets by advance purchase, many times are already sold-out. http://www.hudsonvalley.org/http://www.hudsonvalley.org/
